Performance Specs & Premium Features
Losing a bunch of weight under the hood is one of the main reasons the Shelby GT500’s performance finally improved. Beneath the hood, the old engine was replaced by a 5.4L V8 capable of generating 550 horsepower alongside 510 pound-feet of torque. The new engine meant 102 pounds less weight coming from the engine block. That kind of power mixed with the lighter curb weight enabled the vehicle to get to 60 miles per hour from 0 in 4.1 seconds, to 100 mph in 9.1 s, and to run the standing quarter mile in 12.4 s at 117 mph. Additionally, the beast was able to brake from a speed of 70 mph to a complete stop in just 151 feet.
