Fisker or Karma? Which One is Right?
Here at Prestige Imports in North Miami Beach, FL, the electric luxury vehicle is a segment we’re watching closely. With more and more companies (like Cadillac, Porsche, and Audi) announcing their plans to go completely electric within a decade or so, a lot of change is coming. However, before big brand names were pledging to switch from ICEs to batteries, there were a few brands that catered to that exact segment. One of the most famous was Fisker Automotive. However, there isn’t a Fisker Automotive company anymore. But there is a company called Karma Automotive that makes vehicles that look exactly like Fisker models. What’s up with that?
Are Fisker and Karma the same company? Let’s take a closer look.

Fisker and Karma History
For all practical purposes, Fisker became Karma Automotive. The models offered by both brands are technically different, but almost identical in many respects. Fisker Automotive produced the luxury Fisker Karma electric sports sedan starting in late 2011. In November 2012, however, the battery maker that supplied Fisker with its batteries filed for bankruptcy, making Fisker suspend its production. A year later in November 2013, Fisker Automotive filed bankruptcy as well. The rights to Fisker Automotive were auctioned off shortly thereafter.
All was not lost, though. The company that bought the rights to Fisker Automotive resurrected it, rebranding the company to Karma Automotive. As of late 2021, Karma Automotive produces multiple different vehicles, including the GS-6, the GSe-6, the Revero GT, and the GT, as well as having a couple of concepts cars on the horizon.
