Much like the Gallardo preceded the Huracan, before there was an Aventador there was the Lamborghini Murcielago. Introduced in 2001, it was the brand’s flagship vehicle for nearly a decade, following in the footsteps of the Diablo before it. A pop culture phenomenon, the Murcielago wasn’t just a popular vehicle for exotic car enthusiasts, it was recognized all over the world due to its presence in the media. Appearing in numerous video games and movies, including Transporter 2 and The Dark Knight.
Although the Murcielago is no longer in production, we often see used models float through our inventory here in North Miami Beach FL. Although several different engines were used throughout its run, they were always a V12. In the beginning, the Murcielago could accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, impressive enough in its own right; but, by the end, the vehicle’s time had quickened to 2.8 s in the Murcielago SuperVeloce.
Speaking of SuperVeloce, that brings us to what we wanted to talk about next – all of the different models that were available through the years, which you might encounter here in our inventory. The vehicle was provided in five major models throughout its decade in production. The Murcielago started it all, followed by the Roadster, the LP 640, LP 640 Roadster and ultimately the LP 670-4 SuperVeloce.
There were also four limited edition models made throughout the years. First came the 40th anniversary edition in 2004, celebrating the brand’s 40th birthday with a limited run of 50 specialized units. It was followed by three others, the LP 640 Versace, LP 650-4 Roadster and LP 670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition.
Murcielago’s aren’t as prevalent as they used to be, but occasionally one will find its way into our inventory. Keep an eye on it if you’re interested in one, but also don’t hesitate to give us a call and let us know what you’re looking for, that way we can keep our eyes peeled as well.
