You probably know the story by now, but we’ll give you a quick refresher just in case. A few years back, Fisker Automotive closed its doors and from the company’s ashes rose Karma Automotive, named after the Fisker Karma. The company introduced its first vehicle, the Revero, for the 2017 model year. Now just a couple of years later, the brand has introduced us to that plug-in hybrid luxury sports sedan’s successor, the 2020 Karma Revero GT in North Miami Beach FL.
While little has changed in the way of design, the Revero GT model’s powertrain has undergone some major changes to enhance the way the vehicle drives. We’re quite excited about the new model and the future of the brand as a whole!
The biggest change for the new model year is the discontinuation of the Revero model’s 2.0L General Motors engine as it gets replaced by a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine from BMW. Also featuring dual-electric motors, the Revero GT is capable of generating a pretty massive 535 horsepower – an improvement of 132 HP over the previous powertrain. That kind of improvement enhances performance numbers quite a bit, as well as overall ride quality. The vehicle can now hit 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds, which is nine-tenths of a second faster than it used to. The top speed is electronically limited to 125 miles per hour.
Another major change is the new 28-kWh battery pack, enhancing the electronic driving range the vehicle offers. It can now travel for an EPA-rated 61 miles in all-electric mode, which is huge and represents an improvement of 24 miles. The BMW engine adds an additional 280 miles of non-electric driving range. All of these changes have also enabled a curb weight decrease of 357 pounds.
