Since the turn of the decade, the Lotus Evora has been turning heads with its slender, sophisticated, and sporty design. It has undergone a number of updates, changes, and versions, but what we’ve been left with is the incredible 2018 Lotus Evora 400, and it is a force to be reckoned with in the sports coupe segment. But that segment is one that is rife with competitors. There has been one vehicle that has stood out in that segment for a few years longer than the Lotus, and it’s called the Audi R8.
We thought we’d see how these two exotic sports coupes fare against one another by tossing them into a competitive comparison, pitting the 2018 Lotus Evora 400 vs 2018 Audi R8. To do so, we’ve built the table just below, filling it with some of the most important specifications to consider.
2018 Lotus Evora 400 |
Vs |
2018 Audi R8 |
---|---|---|
400 HP | Horsepower | 540 HP |
3,075 lbs. | Curb Weight | 3,649 lbs. |
19 mpg | Combined Fuel Efficiency | 17 mpg |
4.1 s | 0-60 | 3.1 s |
Unfortunately, this isn’t the strongest showing for the Lotus Evora 400. But one thing you have to keep in mind is that the Lotus is powered by a much smaller, more environmentally friendly V6 engine, while the R8 is powered by a massive V10. That should explain why the Lotus 400 gives up a whopping 140 horsepower to the R8, and why said R8 hits 60 miles per hour one whole second faster.
However, those two rows in the middle muddy the waters a bit for this comparison, throwing some weight behind the Evora 400. When it comes to literal weight, that’s all behind the R8, as it literally weighs nearly 600 pounds more than the Evora 400, which means it won’t be able to handle quite as crisply. Furthermore, the Evora 400 can travel an extra two miles per gallon of fuel, which should lead to some great savings at the pump in the long run.
