There are a ton of supercars on the market. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, obviously there aren’t as many exotic supercars on the market as there are ordinary midsize sedans or compact crossovers. But the North American marketplace is chock full of outstanding supercars to choose from, and we wanted to see how one of the new models we offer right here at Prestige Imports holds up to one of the most iconic supercars currently in production.

With that goal in mind, we decided to see just how well the 2018 Lamborghini Aventador measures up to the Bugatti Chiron. This is obviously a tough test, as the Chiron is one of the fastest production vehicles ever built. But we still wanted to help you weigh the pros and cons.

Advantages of the 2018 Aventador

As you can see by taking a quick glance at the table above, there’s a reason the Chiron is one of the fastest vehicles ever produced. It’s quad-turbocharge V16 engine generates an absolutely astounding 1,500 horsepower, which is unheard of and admittedly more than doubles the Aventador’s power. That’s what enables it to hit 60 miles per hour in just 2.3 seconds.

However, the Aventador’s 2.9 s time is nothing to sneeze at. Hitting 60 mph in 2.9 seconds is still an incredible feat, and the Chiron falls apart (figuratively, not literally) in terms of aspects that don’t have to do with a straight drag race. Neither of these vehicles are being purchased for their fuel efficiency, but the Aventador is a bit more efficient than the Chiron, making it slightly more viable as a daily driver. The real important spec, however, is the fact that the Aventador weighs almost 1,000 lbs. less than the Chiron. The Bugatti can hit 60 miles per hour much faster than the Lambo, but if the track starts to turn it’s not going to be able to handle it as well.
