While it’s still a less prevalent segment on the market, the amount of plug-in hybrid vehicles continues to grow year after year. There are so many now, in fact, that there are even a few exotic options available, creating their own segment. With that segment still being quite tiny itself, we thought we’d expand and see how our entry into it fares against some of the non-exotic PHEVs on the market.
So, with that in mind, we’ve decided to pit the 2018 Karma Revero vs 2019 Ford Fusion Energi to see how it fares. The Karma Revero is a very young vehicle, while the Ford Fusion Energi was first introduced in 2012. We’ve compiled some of the pertinent details into the table below, so let’s see how they compare.
2018 Karma Revero |
Vs |
2019 Ford Fusion Energi |
---|---|---|
403 HP | Horsepower | 141 HP |
50 miles | All-electric Range | 20 miles |
300 miles | Total Range | 600 miles |
5.4 s | 0-60 mph | 8.0 s |
Just taking a single glance at the table shows how superior the 2018 Karma Revero is to its competitor. It’s probably no surprise that the Revero trumps the Fusion Energi in terms of power, delivering 262 horsepower more than the Ford. The Revero also outpaces the Ford in terms of all-electric range, being able to travel an additional 30 miles more without using gas.
The one area that the Ford Fusion Energi delivers better than its Karma counterpart is in total range. The Revero’s more-than-double electric range doesn’t make up for the Fusion Energi’s superior gas tank, allowing the Ford to travel twice as far between fill-ups and charges. However, the Ford still can’t compete off the line, hitting 60 miles per hour a full 2.6 seconds slower than the Karma Revero.
If you’re comfortable with the shorter total range, then the 2018 Karma Revero should be the vehicle for you. Its astounding premium content only bolsters what the specs on this page offer, so get in touch if you’re interested.
