There are plenty of methods in the industry now that manufacturers are toying with as alternative fuel sources, but the leader is still without doubt electricity. Fuel Cell Vehicles are another option out there, but the technology is still very minimal and likely won’t expand for several years to come. Originally a fuel cell vehicle only, the Honda Clarity recently added a Plug-in Hybrid option to its ranks, and despite it not being an exotic vehicle, we want to see how our PHEV fares against it.
With all of this in mind, we’ve decided to pit the 2018 Karma Revero vs 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. Despite not being from an exotic brand, the Honda Clarity is considered a luxury sedan, and thus makes it a great choice as a Revero competitor.
2018 Karma Revero |
Vs |
2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid |
---|---|---|
403 HP | Horsepower | 103 HP |
50 miles | All-electric Range | 47 miles |
300 miles | Total Range | 340 miles |
5.4 s | 0-60 mph | 7.7 s |
Even still, as you can see with one glance at the table above, the Clarity can hardly compete with the Karma Revero. Just looking at power alone, it gives up nearly triple what the Revero offers, delivering 300 horsepower less than its exotic counterpart. While the Clarity does come close in terms of all-electric range, it’s still 3 miles off, and of the non-exotic vehicles we’ve compared the Revero to… it has the smallest advantage in total range at only 40 miles.
The Revero does continue its trend of delivering superior acceleration, which considering the power difference shouldn’t be much of a surprise, by hitting 60 miles per hour 2.3 seconds faster than the Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. With the advantage in total range being so small, there is very, very little (outside of its price tag) that should be appealing to shoppers in the plug-in hybrid market. If you agree, then be sure to get in touch with us and schedule a test drive behind the wheel of a 2018 Karma Revero yourself.
