Long before the Jaguar F-TYPE officially entered production, three different concept vehicles began to lay down the roots for what would eventually become the brand’s incredible grand tourer. These concepts included the XJ41/XJ42 concept in 1986, the F-Type concept in 2000 and, finally, the C-X16 concept in 2011. The production version of the vehicle was then introduced in 2013, and we’re always pleased when one of these awesome 2-door grand tourers pass through our inventory here in North Miami Beach FL.

Different Jaguar F-TYPE Models Available

There are three main production variants that have been built for the Jaguar F-TYPE. The original version of the vehicle was actually the F-TYPE Convertible, but it was followed in 2014 by the F-TYPE Coupe. Then in 2016, the F-TYPE SVR was introduced, available in either body style but with an enhanced version of the vehicle’s powertrain, leading to improved power output and performance. This version was only made through the 2020 model year.
When the vehicle was launched, it was powered by a new 3.0L V6 supercharged engine that was capable of generating 335 horsepower and accelerating from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds. The higher-powered trim level F-TYPE S was boosted to generate 375 hp and accelerate in 4.8 s. When the F-TYPE R was introduced, it was powered by a larger 5.0L V8 supercharged engine, boosting power and performance even further to 542 hp and 4.0 s respectively.
The short-lived F-TYPE SVR was powered by the same engine as the F-TYPE R, but it was enhanced to generate 567 hp so that the vehicle could get from 0-60 in 3.5 s. Later on, an entry-level engine was introduced for those individuals who would prefer less power. It was the brand’s first 4-cylinder sports car, as the engine is a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 capable of generating 296 hp alongside 295 pound-feet of torque.
