The Ford F-Series has been around for many generations. It’s been not only one of the most popular pickup trucks for nearly as long, but one of the most popular automobiles period. In 1999, Ford introduced the Super Duty name for their heavy-duty variants of the popular F-150, and the name has been a popular mainstay on the lineup ever since. As they typically tend to be a bit more premium or exclusive than their F-150 counterparts, we occasionally see some used Ford Super Duty pickup trucks pass through our inventory here in North Miami Beach FL as well.
If we talked about every single different Ford Super Duty model that has ever been built, we’d be here for a very long time. The heavy-duty pickup truck entered its fourth generation in 2017, with a mid-generation refresh coming in 2020. There are a host of variants available in the Super Duty lineup, with the two most popular and prevalent options being the F-250 and F-350. These two models, as well as the 4-50, are available as traditional pickup trucks. In addition, though, you can get the F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 as chassis cab trucks. The F-600 was introduced for the 2020 model year and it is actually a medium-duty pickup truck based on the F-550 Super Duty. Another variant that was introduced for 2020 was the Tremor trim level. The Tremor nameplate is available for the F-250 or F-350 pickup truck models, introducing an off-road focused trim level for the heavy-duty pickups. There are five different engines available throughout the various fourth-generation Super Duty trucks. The base level is a 6.2L Boss V8, then a 6.8L Triton V10 and finally a 7.3L Godzilla V8. These three traditional gas engines are joined by a pair of 6.7L Scorpion V8 turbo-diesel engines, one that was available from 2017-2019 before being replaced in 2020.
