Here at Prestige Imports, there are very few brands that we’ve never seen pass through our showroom. We love cars of all shapes, sizes and capabilities, so we’ll often have models available that you might not see anywhere else. This is true not just of models but brands, too. For example, have you heard of Bizzarrini? They have a fragmentary legacy, and while the Italian brand might be poised for a comeback in the years to come, right now their presence is scarce. But we recently had one of their vehicles in our inventory, even covering that model on our blog.
The model in question is pictured here on this page. It’s a 1968 GT Strada 5300, one of the most well-known models the brand produced. The Bizzarrini Strada was built from 1964 to 1968, powered by a 5.4L Chevy small-block engine that was capable of generating 365 horsepower alongside 284 pound-feet of torque.
All that power made the vehicle capable of accelerating from 0-62 miles per hour in quicker than 7 seconds before continuing onto a top speed of 174 miles per hour. While those numbers might be laughable by today’s standards, they were a lot more impressive back in the ‘60s. Only 133 of these vehicles were built, which makes it a pretty unique vehicle we’re pleased to have had in our inventory.
Other models built by the brand included the 1900 GT Europa and the P538. The former was a scaled-down version of the 5300 Strada designed for General Motors’ Opel brand. The latter was a race car entered into the 1966 Le Mans that didn’t last long due to a cracked oil line but was shaping up to be one of the fastest vehicles of the pack.
These models are extremely rare, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see another one pass through our inventory. But with rumors of the brand’s revival increasing, be sure to watch this space!
