Ferrari Portofino Specs and Release Date<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Yesterday, we reported on the\u00a02018 BMW M5<\/a>\u00a0that offers power and comfort. Isn’t it just our luck that within less than a week, Ferrari also gives us something to sink our teeth into? Something as good as a new release!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s never fun to say goodbye to something you love. That said, having an even better thing for which that something is making way does soften the blow. Today, Italian giants Ferrari announced the Portofino, a replacement for their existing entry-level California T.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a lower and wider body than\u00a0incumbent\u00a0California T, the Portofino takes design cues from its\u00a0older brother \u2013 the 812 Superfast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ferrari’s entry model,\u00a0the Portofino features a hardtop convertible roof and two back seats. In addition to the 10.2″ touchscreen audio\/climate control, both driver and passenger are given their own informational displays.<\/p>\n

Leaner and Meaner\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Although drivers may notice the car feels wider and more spacious, the Portofino has less weight than the\u00a0California T model it\u00a0replaces. Without disclosing weight specifics, Ferrari’s press\u00a0release\u00a0announcing the Portofino calls this reduction in weight “significant.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This lighter weight and more aerodynamic styling means one thing for sports car enthusiasts \u2013 speed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ferrari Portofino Engine and Powertrain\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Portofino is more than a slimmer facelift for the California T. The engine has been\u00a0rebuilt with new pistons, con rods and a fully re-designed air intake system. The exhaust system has been rethought as well, with the goal of avoiding any losses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ferrari’s Variable Boost Management system adjusts torque for the gear selected ensuring higher power and lower consumption for every RPM.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The engine, itself, is a recent classic. Although rebuilt, it’s the same\u00a03.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 we have grown to love in the California T. Ferrari’s upgrades increase the Portofino’s horsepower by almost 40 over the California T (591\u00a0hp\u00a0vs 552\u00a0hp\u00a0in the California T), and torque by 3\u00a0lb-ft. over the California T (560\u00a0lb-ft. vs 557\u00a0lb-ft. In the California T).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
