While it might not be quite as vintage as the 1962 Corvette Hardtop Convertible<\/a> we had for sale in late 2018, throwback vehicles \u2013 even a throwback to just under two decades ago \u2013 are some of our favorite vehicles to highlight. After all, a 2001 Chevy Corvette might not be as old as the 1962, but it\u2019s still four generations ago. The 2020 model year saw the introduction of the eighth-generation Corvette, while 2001 was smackdab in the middle of C5, the legendary nameplate\u2019s fifth generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Engine Specs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 2001 Chevy Corvette features an enhanced engine over the first half of the generation, increasing the power available in its 5.7L V8 engine to 350 horsepower. This was accompanied by 350 pound-feet of torque as well. This was also the first Corvette model to being making strides in terms of fuel economy, achieving 18 mpg through the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which were comparatively pretty high when looking at the high-performance segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Performance Times<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of high-performance, how fast is the Chevy<\/a> convertible? While modern models will obviously be a bit quicker, the C5 Corvette was quite competitive. When equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission, the C5 Corvette was capable of getting from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds and of running the standing quarter mile in 13.3 seconds at a speed of 108 miles per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premium Features<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While you won\u2019t see the advanced technologies or safety features found in vehicles of today, the high-performance Corvette was still equipped with plenty of great premium features to match its stature. This includes things like its Bose speaker system, adjustable sport bucket seats and stainless steel Borla Exhaust Cat-Back System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
