Even if you know your neighborhood well, you\u2019ll want to make certain that you\u2019ve accounted for things such as parking, restrooms, and potential cul-de-sacs where you might have to backtrack. Kids can be restless on nights such as these, so it\u2019s important to plan ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same way that planning your route can help cut out potential problems, you can avoid hassles by making sure that your kids wear costumes that work for long stretches of walking. You won\u2019t want something that\u2019s too big, or that has footwear that makes them liable to trip. Additionally, you\u2019ll want to ensure that any masks that are worn are breathable and have suitable visibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use Flexible Props<\/span><\/h3>\n

While it\u2019s certainly adorable to have your little pirate or hockey player look as legit as possible, using an actual sword or hockey stick will present its own set of problems. Take a young child, fill them full of candy, and then offer them an actual baseball bat, and your prop might become something that can actually hurt a person. So make sure your props are made of foam or rubber.<\/span><\/p>\n

When trick-or-treating at night, you\u2019ll often find that there is heavier traffic than normal, and that there are some areas where visibility is limited. That\u2019s why it\u2019s a good idea to put reflective strips on your costumes, since that will make sure that cars can see them when they\u2019re crossing the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n

While most urban legends such as razor blades in apples have been proven to be false, there still might be candy that manages to sneak out of its wrapper or has been rewrapped in the shuffle.
